Jacket Lining Idea
This was an idea Jennifer Ridge had, to put something to do with The Riley's into the lining of the jackets.
I took this idea, got The Riley's facebook profile picture, changed it to black and white and incorporated it onto a 19th century male tailcoat image I found on the internet using photoshop.
I think this is a really good idea that will be used on our final pieces; all we need to do is check the image we're using is accepted by everyone and if this image is ok, we need to develop it so the pattern merges.

Evaluation of Meeting 14/02/10
The meeting with The Riley's went really well. Each of the band members chose what images they liked most out of the research folder and I've got the measurements for all of them as well.
From their choices, we were able to discuss which maker will be making for what band member:
Me - Joe
Jen - Dave
Kate - James
Lottie - Martin

Research Folder
I've collaborated together a folder of 19th century male costume images for me to take to The Rileys on 14th February for them to decide what costumes they would like to have.
In this folder is also measurement sheets for me to note their measurements as i'm unsure of the next time i'll be able to have the opportunity.
This meeting will help me to establish which maker will be assigned to which band member.

First Thoughts
This Self Directed Project is going to be based on the band 'The Rileys'. They're a London based band who have asked for 19th century male costumes to be made for a photoshoot, possibly a gig, tour or video depending how much they like the costumes at the end.
There are 4 members of the band so I've collaborated a group of 4 makers so they will get a costume each. The costume makers are me, Charlotte Cutcher, Jennifer Ridge and Kate Eldridge. After research, we will establish who will be assigned to which band member based on similarities in the wanted costume.
This will be a very much team based project so that we can create costumes that are different but look similar and match as a band.
We've created a Facebook Group so that we can easily keep in touch with each other and the band.

First Tutorial
Attending this tutorial:
Myself, Jennifer Ridge, Lottie Cutcher, Kate Eldridge, Adele Keeley and Graham Cottenden.
This tutorial was to confirm what our Self Directed Project was going to be based on, to talk through plans and ideas and to discuss any possible ideas that will help.
Designs - We want to create 19th century costume but modernise it to suit the look of 'the rileys'. Possible ways to modernise it would be to personalise the lining. Graham suggested mixing 19th century styles with the 1960's or other eras to add a possible contemporary twist.
It was agreed that it won't be possible to make a full costume, some of the items will need to be sourced.

- Research Edwardian Frock Coats
- Research into Top Hats and how to make them.
- Create a research folder.
- Research the band's background and possibly arrange to see them perform.
